The other day, Audrey asked if she could go and pet the baby chicks downstairs. Who in the world has baby chicks in a suburban flat complex? Answer: My neighbors 2 floors down from us! Oh, and they ended up being ducks. Very cute, but ....yuck! Pet ducks in a flat? Another new one for me. The clincher, was when my neighbors asked if we could take care of them for a week. As my mother would say......do I look like I just fell off a turnip truck?!!

I was trying to figure out why someone would have pet ducks in their house when my friend informed me that this was not uncommon here in Turkey. She said they would raise them in the apartment and then sell them at the local pazar to make money. Hmmmm. Anyone for poached duck?

Moving On Up!

Congratulations Sweetheart! You have worked so hard; I am proud of you! Thank you for working so hard for all of us!

To everyone else, Murat had his confirmation that as of May 1st he will be the new Asst. General Manager over the Divan Hotels. There are 8 hotels that he will be responsible for. He is, needless to say, very happy and excited. He had his eyes set on this position when we first came to Turkey and we are more than thankful to God that it came to pass in just 3 years. It was a long, sacrificing 3 years! He worked so hard!

Now!!!! Show me the money!! hee, hee :)

This is so much fun if you do it with a buddy! Whitney and I had a good laugh. Think about spelling before you start!

New Addition.....but Zozito is cuter!!!!

We brought a puppy home late March; which proved to be very challenging. We learnt after we brought him home, and the hard way, that he was way to young to be sold. He was forty days old and the same as taking care of a baby. M and I did not sleep for 2-3 weeks. Ouch!! We are all doing better and as you can see, Zozito has adjusted. She screamed her head off for the first week the dog was with us. She kept demanding that he " GO!!" and kept pointing with all authority to the front door. Now we are trying to teach her to treat him gently. The puppy, whose name is Solo, puts up with a lot from her; I think its because she pays the most attention to him. She definitely feels powerful now having someone smaller than her in the house.

I am a soccer mom.....GOAL!!!!

Easter Egg Decorating

I actually have not decorated eggs in the last few years; this year we were having a contest for egg decorating at our home school group, so egg decorating it was! We cannot get the dyes over here, but a friend suggested paint as an alternative and I loved it. I liked it better than the dyes and the eggs came out so much more vibrant. We will prep a little more next year on exactly what we want to do before we start.

Egg decorating has come a long way since I was a child (now I sound old). :) People are making flying Superman's, funny people, and lots of other random things out of their eggs. We did make a good attempt at an angel, a royal egg, a pirate, and Humpty Dumpty, but as I said before, we will prep a bit more with our ideas next year.

Zoe was down for a nap while we were decorating, so did not have any eggs to show.

That did not bother her though, when she saw me taking photos of Max with his eggs

she grabbed someone elses eggs and jump right in front of the camera. My little photo bug!

How Sweet It Is

It was Micah's turn to be junior chef tonight. He was working very hard and quite independently with the spaghetti sauce. He begins to converse with a big smile. Micah says, "I am going to cook every night for my wife when I get married. Oh and she is going to be a Christian too. I am also going to make sure I leave her money every day when I leave and then I am going to buy her a ten bedroom house!" Mom says, "Wow Micah! You said you are going to cook every night right?" He says, "Well, every night that I am not playing Goalie at a match!" He was so excited and sincere. He also added something about giving me lots of money! :)

I wanted to make sure I wrote this all down. It is now in writing. I am trying to sow good seed for my future daughter in-law! :)
